Lisa Gerrard (丽莎 杰拉德)出生于1961年4月12号,澳大利亚墨尔本的希腊-土耳其人聚集的城郊普拉兰(Prahran),父母是爱尔兰移民,她自己有希腊人,土耳其人,意大利人,爱尔兰人,阿拉伯人血统.至幼生长在地中海音乐的熏陶中,为她后来的音乐生涯奠定了基础.
Lisa的音乐职业生涯始于1981年,与Brendan Perry在墨尔本创建了"Dead Can Dance"乐队,并一直担当乐队主唱之一.1982年和乐队成员Brendan Perry,贝司手Paul Erikson去了London发展;但不久,Erikson就只身返回了澳大利亚,只留下Lisa和Brendan两人.DCD乐队一共发行了八张专集,至1998年解散.2005年,乐队成员曾重聚巡演,之后就又没有下闻了.
1995年,Lisa发行了她的第一部个人专辑[td].
2007年,Lisa从澳洲墨尔本出发,开始了她的首次全球巡演,途径欧洲,俄罗斯,北美.并在次年与德国电子音乐家Klaus Schulze合作发行了专辑.
2009年,她创建了自己的唱片标签Gerrard Records,并同时致力于推广和支持那些还未获认同的艺术流派.
