This long-awaited recording from Perahia sets a new gold standard for Bach French Suites. After the enormous success of his previous Bach
recordings (Goldberg, English Suites, Partitas), I have been expecting this for quite some time. His interpretation is elegant and well-balanced.
My previous favorite was the Schiff version. Schiff is emotionally restrained in playing Bach and doesn't use pedal. Perahia's version has more
color and adds to the depth and variety of French Suites. Highly recommended.
Perahia has been one of my favorite pianists and he never disappoints. These are beautiful performances by Perahia of The French Suites. I have
been impressed by the high quality of DG recordings and now Perahia is recording on DG - the best. I have enjoyed him over the years. The quality
of performances by Perahia on Columbia Records-Sony was superb. I look forward to more recordings by Perahia on DG.
