Ray Kennedy,perhaps best known as the long-time pianist for John Pizzarelli, made twoconsecutive hits in the "jazzification of classical music" genre withhis Mozart In Jazz and Bach In Jazz.
Nowcomes the third installment in the series, Baroque In Jazz. This time, Kennedy and histrio tackled mostly well-known Baroque compositions by Albinoni, Handel,Pachelbel and Vivaldi, among others. Within the series, this one is perhaps thejazziest and most fun album to listen to, as Kennedy seems to have taken greaterliberty in his arrangements.
Surprisingrhythmic treatments, varied tempi and moods keep the proceeding interesting.The band is clearly having fun, and they sound lively and particularlyinspired. And as we know by now, we can always count on them to swing, reallyswing!
