Sarah McLachlan在西洋歌坛众多才女中享有崇高地位，八八年出道后，就已经是加拿大歌坛新生代最被看好的创作才女，几年来，她的专辑《Fumbling Towards Ecstasy》和《Surfacing》更让Sarah McLachlan成为西洋歌坛“知性女声掌门人”，迄今她已出版八张专辑，写下两千五百万张唱片销售，并且夺取三座葛莱美奖，包括两座最佳女歌手的肯定，而97年在演唱会市场及主办单位反动声浪下，她创办以歌颂女性的“莉莉丝音乐节”演唱活动，在流行音乐史上绝对可说是空前创举，三年来共有超过百名知名女艺人不计排名辈分参与，吸引两百万名观众，累计超过七百万美金公益基金，彻底将音乐和社会工作做了完美结合，声势直达高峰，为了表彰Sarah McLachlan对女性权益挺身而出的信念，及其创办“莉莉丝音乐节”的勇气，98年，纽约州长颁发了伊利莎白远见奖(Elizabeth　Cady Stanton Visionary　Award)给Sarah McLachlan，公开的感谢她对宣扬女性在音乐界的工作权不遗余力的重要贡献。只是在当红之际，Sarah McLachlan却选择回归家庭，喜欢下厨作菜的Sarah McLachlan甚至于99年出版食谱，也造成风潮。“莉莉丝音乐节”让Sarah McLachlan成为当代创作女声一姐，也影响众多当代多位歌手，其中，近来全球狂卖的蒂朵就是Sarah McLachlan的头号歌迷。
Sarah McLachlan最脍炙人口的歌曲当属电影《City Of Angel》主题曲Angel，当时因为歌曲搭配着电影剧情造成全球轰动。这首Angel在台湾先后有林凡及李圣杰翻唱，而擅长翻唱的Westlife也翻唱Angel，足见Angel的经典程度。不过，最让人津津乐道的是，披头四大老Paul McCartney 99年曾因为现场聆听Sarah McLachlan演唱这首歌曲而泪流满面，原来当时他想起了已逝爱妻琳达，Sarah McLachlan的歌声给了他最多的感动。不过这里推荐的是她的另外一首，同样经典~！
