George Michael 乔治麦可 1963年 6月25日，出生于北伦敦近郊。自幼即在老旧灵魂音乐唱片堆中长大的他，也很喜欢一些在俱乐部里播放的舞曲，以及在他幼时于英国相当流行的西印度Ska音乐。他尤其喜欢Motown之声，但同时他也热爱Elton John及Queen的作品。
1993年 George发行了一张EP‘Five Live’，其中收录了他于1992年纪念Queen主唱Freddie Mercury的演唱会上，与Queen以及 Lisa Stansfield合唱的歌曲，以及他在自己1991年的Cover To Cover演唱会上所演唱的歌曲。其中与Queen合唱的“Somebody To Love”（全美30名），以及“Killer/ Papa Was A Rollin' Stone”的音乐录影带，双双入选MTV音乐录影带大奖提名。这张EP的收入全数捐入 Freddie Mercury爱滋病防治凤凰基金会。全球爱滋病日12月1日，George于一场名为希望演唱会（Concert Of Hope）的义演中演出，这场演唱会透过电视向全世界转播，呼吁世人重视爱滋病防治工作。
