    这位现年只有23岁的歌手对于有些人认为她太年轻所以作品不够成熟的说法 感到相当不以为然，因为她认为虽然年轻，但她的创作成熟度不容小觑：“我希 望大家先听了我的作品再做评论，很多歌手都是很年轻的时候就展露才华了，像 乔治哈里逊（George Harrison）加入披头四的时候才17岁，U2和滚石（The Rolling Stones）合唱团开始被注意的时候也跟我现在差不多年纪...年纪不代表 什么，跟你的才华没有直接关系。”
    蜜雪儿的确以行动证明了她的论点，最近才与老牌团体山塔那（Santana）以 及葛莱美奖得主雪瑞儿可洛（Sheryl Crow）合作巡回演出的她从与这些前辈的共 事中汲取了不少经验，这些经验促使她的创作更形成熟，这样的成长痕迹在新专 辑里俯拾皆是。蜜雪儿相信她自己的能力，也相信听众的耳朵是聪明的，她不想让别人的看法对她的创作形成压力。
     过度包装的偶像到处都是，连摇滚团都会摆出酷劲姿态，母亲有着荷兰、印尼、法国血统，父亲是爱尔兰人，18岁的Michelle Branch只想抱着吉他率真的摇滚；幼年梦想登上百老汇舞台的她，在亲临New Kids On The Block演唱会上歌手与乐迷间疯狂的互动后加深她对歌唱的憧憬；14岁的生日礼物—吉他让她可以将诗词与旋律创作结合在一起，在60年代的Beatles、Led Zeppelin、Jimi Hendrix、Queen、Mamas & Papas到90年代的Lisa Loeb、Sheryl Crow、Silverchair的听觉洗礼下，经年埋首创作，99年透过滚石杂志网站发表的单曲跃登冠亚军，「恋爱世代」(Dawson\'s Creek)制作班底制作的影集「Wasteland」也选用她四首歌曲，2000年独立发行的专辑「Broken Bracelet」逐步累积创作的轨迹。
