来自于纽约的Manowar，成军于1980年，由贝斯手Joey DeMaio、吉他手Ross The Boss组成。1982年Manowar录制了自己的第一张唱片Battle Hymns。乐队的音乐狂野、喧嚣，且充满了无穷的力量，配合着磅礴的古典乐段，交织着电锯般的吉他独奏。乐队曾用10吨重的音箱，40英尺长，21英尺高的扬声器打破吉尼斯世界纪录------成为世界上最"吵"的乐队。
