THE DIPLOMATS OF SOLID SOUND are a hard-gigging 60s style soul band from Iowa and they've just released their sixth long player.... 'A Higher Place'. The group vocalists Sarah Cram, Katherine Ruestow and Abbie Sawyer , keyboardist Nate "Count" Basinger , drummer Forrest Heusinkveld , sax man Eddie MacKinley, guitarist Douglas Roberson and bassist Ben Soltau though not an household name is big on Spotify ; the Diplomats are stars even .... with an excess of 20 million streams of their music to date! Their Spotify followers will find plenty to stream on 'A Higher Place' as the soundscape is very much what the band has always delivered their modern take on organic, brassy, 60s soul sort of half way between Aussie band The Bamboos and the whole Daptone thing. Best examples to sum up their sound is the organ-led 'Crazy About You' and the sweeter 'Fool' with an intro that borrows just a little something from 'Baby I Need Your Loving'.
