Originally an extremely generic and stereotypical “blasphemous” Death Metal act like many, Hate shifted gradually to simple,Originally an extremely generic and stereotypical “blasphemous” Death Metal act like many, Hate shifted gradually to simple, mid-tempo/blasting Black Metal in the vein of Behemoth, Belphegor and, to a lesser degree, like a less amateurish Watain, with the use of diminished and not exactly sensed melodies. Their latest 2019 album Auric Gates of Veles follows the blueprint of their previous albums: dramatic and melodic Black Metal that recalls Dark Funeral, Cradle of Filth and Silencer and even Post-Black Metal acts like Lantlôs and Woods of Desolation, as prove some F-minor melodies on “Sovereign Sanctity”. Once again, it’s nothing special, but still listenable and discretely potent.
