20051月Bright Eyes发表了唱片《I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning》，Connor Oberst在这张里的演唱会让人感觉到Robert Smith的影子。Bright Eyes这些年在独立音乐圈中广受好评，音乐上贯彻的是松弛自省，忧郁感伤的美学概念。与那些上口的Indie-pop相比，Bright Eyes的音乐显得不那么流行。
    Bright Eyes的音乐适合一个人在深夜里聆听，很个人化的氛围与倾诉感。编曲上Bright Eyes采取的是不大类型化的方式，不拘泥于一种格调，而是开放性地吸收各类音乐手段。Connor Oberst的唱腔自然是他们的招牌，悲苦脆弱。

   PS：音乐厂牌Saddle Creek是少年得志的音乐神童Connor Oberst(Bright Eyes的主唱)为摆脱商业束缚发行自己的个人唱片建立的，到今天它的作用还是没有什么变化，仅仅是服务的艺人多了几个而已，基本上它就是一小群很自我的人玩味音乐的地方，从不会为那些音乐理念以外的东西而改变自己。于Saddle Creek麾下乐队的亲缘性，我们甚至能破天荒地以一个厂牌为整体总结一下他们大致的音乐风格：前卫独立摇滚的形式，绝对的抵制商业，偏近post hardcore，不乏优美的旋律之作，以复杂的吉他和弦、噪音、饱满的爆发力为特征，歌词大多数抒发的是内省的个人情感，大部分情况下不涉及政治，偶有出格之举。
