歌手介绍-----汉克·威廉姆斯（Hank williams，1923～1953），1923年出生于亚拉巴马州。在风格上，他既不像东南部的和声风格，也不接近西部流行的西部摇摆风格，他创造了一种抑郁的但却坚定的唱法。汉克·威廉姆斯40年代在乡村音乐界的地位，就如同20年代的吉米·罗杰斯，甚至还要高。
威廉姆斯1946年开始出唱片，他推出了一系列冲击流行音乐市场的歌曲，如《相思布鲁斯》（Lovesick Blues）、《今晚不要流泪》（There will be no teardrops tonight）、《你的欺骗之心》（Your cheatin' heart）以及《你又赢了》（You win again）等，其中最有名的代表作品《什锦菜》（Jambalaya，例12）成了世界上家喻户晓的经典歌曲。威廉姆斯还在他的音乐中保留了一定的旧式宗教成分，制作了一些有力的传统福音歌曲。
1953年元旦，威廉姆斯由于吸毒过量死在他汽车的后座上。与他同时代的乡村歌手们几乎都受到了他的影响，他在乡村歌集中的作品也许比任何人都要多。
由于第二次世界大战结束以后，美国社会的繁荣使得乡村音乐得到了飞速发展。如：此时的"老式大剧院"广播节目拥有了一千万听众，"民族谷仓舞"节目也越来越受到人们的喜爱。"纳什维尔之声"也随即开始遍布全国。
