Gary Maurice "Joyner" Lucas, Jr.[1] (born August 17, 1988) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, poet, and actor from Worcester, Massachusetts.
Lucas gained widespread exposure and critical acclaim after the release of his single "Ross Capicchioni" in 2015.[2][3] In June 2017, he released his fourth mixtape, 508-507-2209, which was his first on a major label. On November 28, 2017, Lucas released his single "I'm Not Racist", onto his YouTube account which very quickly went viral and gained critical acclaim.[4] The video was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Music Video at the 61st Grammy Awards, but lost to Childish Gambino's "This Is America".[5] Lucas was formerly signed to Atlantic Records, until he announced his departure from the label in December 2018.[6]Ever since 2016, Lucas has also become known for remixing popular hip hop songs.[7] In October 2018, he announced that his debut studio album ADHD will be released in the future.[8]
Joyner Lucas keeps the momentum rolling from his well-received “Will” video by releasing his long-awaited ADHD album. The LP is his first full-length project since 2017’s 508-507-2209.
The 18-track album features collaborations with Young Thug, Logic, Chris Brown, Fabolous and King OSF. The Massachusetts-bred lyricist dropped the LP through his Twenty Nine Music Group imprint following his departure from Atlantic Records.
