卡朋特兄妹」是來自美國康涅狄格州紐黑文市的一支兄妹二重唱組合。哥哥理查德（Richard Carpenter,生於1946年10月15日，健盤手兼歌手）和妹妹卡倫（Karen Carpenter，生於1950年3月2日，歌手兼鼓手）。60年代末他們遷往加利福尼亞州在一個名叫「光譜」 （Spectrum）的6人演唱組中一起演唱，70年代，該演唱組推出了多首風靡世界的單曲和唱片其中包括《與愛情告別》（Goodbye to Love,1972）和《世界之巔》（Top of the World,1973），這兩首歌都是理查德和他的歌曲創作夥伴約翰．貝蒂斯（John Bettis）共同創作的。演唱組的熱門歌曲還有列農和麥卡特尼的作品《車票》（Ticket to Ride, 1970）、邦尼．布

Carpenters也不是這首歌的原唱，Dionne Warwick和Dusty Springfield都演唱過這首歌，但始終沒有走紅。
