简介：Producer Soulchef from Auckland, New Zealand just released his debut Masterpiece 'Escapism', a 16 course auditory delight for fans around the world. Shaun 'Soulchef' Hopkins released his debut album 'Escapism' on the 17th November 2010 on Goontrax Records, a release that will spread his sound across the world and show the people what Hip Hop is really about. After The Entree free release of 'Remember When...' Soulchef left our mouth watering waiting for the main course, the 16 track album 'Escapism' continues from where 'Remember When...' left us.
With Features by many of the talented Goontrax rappers located around the world, from the likes of Nieve, The 49ers, Tunji and many more. Growing up Soulchef was highly influenced by the Jazz of the 50s, the Soul from the 70s and Hip Hop from the 90s, these influences can be heard all the way through the album giving a fresh and fantasy like feel to 'Escapism'. The title itself was inspired by the late Michael Jackson, in an interview he stated that music was his escape from reality. This feeling is carried throughout the album and will have all listeners drifting in a daydream. When asked about the content of the album Soulchef said "...i wanted to make an album that all people could relate to, for me music has always been an escape and i wanted to take people on that journey with me."
This Journey is one where horns, violins and vocals talk about love, escaping, everyday struggles and the state of hip hop. There is a song for everyone and its gauranteed that everyone will love the jazzy tunes that make you wanna close your eyes and just listen. Many of Soulchefs music has featured on label mates albums and the instrumental of "Never Been In Love Like This" feat. Nieve, Noah King, Tunji & A-Dub is also featured on the tv series: The Gentlemen's League, exclusively on DIRECTV's The 101® Network immediately following the 9pm ET/PT airing of Friday Night Lights. This debut release by The Soulchef will leave music fans around the world wanting more of his recipes, and there are many projects in the kitchen brewing up. Future projects with Nieve from Los Angeles and Home Brew from New Zealand are in the mix right now.
