       荷塘月色是一张“以乐写景，以文入乐”的散文式音乐作品。在乐手名单里，我们发现雨果的录音师易有伍先生这次居然脱离原职，以乐手身份加盟这张专辑的制作，在其中演奏大提琴、二胡并吹口哨，展现他在电子技术之外的音乐素养。刘星担任了该专辑的制作和录音两职，当然他也部份曲目中演奏中阮。

       《荷塘月色》一碟除收录同名主题曲外，还收录《水边的荧火》、《蛙的情话》、《风的涟漪》、《西域之旅》、《梦回楼兰》、《丽娃河》、《夏雨岛情怀》、《水杉秋色》、《梧桐叶》和《飘落的竹丝》等一共11首乐曲。音乐以键盘音乐为基础，带有浓郁的电子音乐风格，但却表现出一种兼具中西文化内涵的意境色彩，乐曲有的空灵飘逸，有的神秘奇幻，有的浪漫迷人，而有的古意盎然，越加细细品味，越是令人由衷佩服音乐家的创作巧思。出现在主题曲《荷塘月色》中的女声，与《鳯凰于飞》中那首《五月的风》有异曲同工之妙，优美的女声给人一种惊艳之感，这是出自一位叫陈文的女歌手的演唱。11段乐曲基本上都采用大调，色泽还是暖暖的。基调舒缓纤柔，听来不累，让人感到有些慵懒。在当今物欲横流的商品社会，终日奔波劳顿的都市人，确实需要在这样一片音乐绿洲里松弛一下。
