在Digital Spy的采访中，Adele表示，和上张格莱美获奖专辑《19》区别之处在于对同样事物报以不同的态度。“随着年纪的增长我现在看待事物会更耐心，更诚恳，更宽容，”她说，“我找到了一些之前没有听过的艺人的作品，像Wanda Jackson, Allison Krauss, Yvonne Fair, Andrew Bird, Neko Case, Lady Antebellum和Steel Drivers，现在我非常喜欢他们的作品了；此外我还从Mary J. 首支单曲Rolling In The Deep于2010年11月29日率先在荷兰发行，空降冠军；在Billboard Hot 100榜单上排位68，是她第二支打入该榜单的单曲。评论对她的嗓音，词曲创作以及编曲都大加赞赏，滚石杂志的Barry Walters在对这支单曲给出很高评价的同时玩笑说，毫无疑问，英国人对像布鲁斯福音这种传统美国音乐已经能够熟练架构了。
专辑主要的制作人是Red Hot Chilli Peppers的Rick Rubin以及Florence + the Machine的Paul Epworth，此外还有与OneRepbulic的Ryan Tedder合作的两只曲子。
