'Here We Go Again' – that’s quite a foreboding brand name. Breathe a sigh of relief, nothing ever goes so far down shit creek that Lady Linn & Her Magnificent Seven have to creep out the side entrance to choruses of boos and jeers, really, their brand of demo-form jazz, mid tempo skiffle, minimal big band party and re-workings are all top notch, much to everyone's relief. That so many are playing this same routine these days (Paloma Faith, Imelda May), 'I Feel Something' marks Linn and co out for special merit, nothing appears to be forced or tidied up for trend-jumping to hint that maybe a few months earlier they were doing Leonard Cohen covers in the style of Rodrigo Y Gabriela; oompady booh sounding 'I Am Aware' comes straight from Blake Edwards' opening credits, 'Waiting' opens up whole new routes for this sometimes rather jaded new trend. Lady Linn herself too sounds like someone who could sing algebra in Esperanto and make it sound like it was coated in the nectar of the gods, pushing her crew right up alongside leaders, leaving followers far behind in their wake.
