Oddrun Lilja, known as guitarist in Bugge Wesseltoft's "New Conception of Jazz", Frode Haltli's "Avant folk" and "Moksha", now comes with his debut album in his own name: "LILJA: Marble".

In recent years, she has traveled the world collaborating with local traditional musicians, including raga musicians in India, gnaw musicians in Morocco, circus performers in Ethiopia and Palestinians in a refugee camp in Lebanon. Inspired by these journeys, she has composed new music, where the songs are named after ten of the cities she has visited; "New York", "Bagamoyo", "Casablanca", "Paris", "Mekelle", "Tyr", "Kathmandu", "Nairobi", "Kolkata" and "Reykjavík". Knowledge of folk music from different parts of the world is woven together with texts about belonging, life and the world from the composer's perspective. Elements from ancient traditions are inserted into a modern acoustic soundscape characterized by playfulness, virtuosity and joy of playing.

On the recording, she brings with her a star team of musicians consisting of Sanne Rambags on vocals, Bugge Wesseltoft on piano, Jo Skaansar on bass, Helge Norbakken on drums and producer Kåre Chr. Vestrheim. Some of the international traditional musicians LILJA has worked with before, also contribute to the recording. Including Ustad Ashraf Sharif Khan (PA), Zakaria Houaoura (MA) and the children's orchestra from the refugee camp "Rashedie" in Lebanon. "LILJA: Marble" will be released on Jazzland Recordings in April 2020. This is an album you will not want to miss.
